STACK AUDIO LINK - LOOK NO FURTHER
I have been mucking about with HiFi on and off for over 30 years, and thought i had assembled a very decent system through continual evaluation. The Stack was recommended by a friend i trust, who has very good ears and had been doing a lot of research with streamers. I normally run valved equipment, but wanted something easy for my wife to use without her worrying about leaving anything on or causing any damage. So running Hi-res Tidal, I paired the Stack streamer into my PS Audio direct stream DAC, battery powered LDR preamp, CLASSE CA201 solid state power amp and RFC modified HPD315 Tannoy Cheviot speakers. I have been very happily using a modified Denon DVD player, with the DAC doing the heavy lifting. On plugging the Stack in place i was astounded at the uplift in sound quality, deeper lows, better midrange and clearer top end. I would say that the Stack is about 20% better everywhere, the sort of improvement that you normally only dream about (i have paid a lot more to get a lot less). This has become my go-to system and is very easy to live with. I have heard this with the dedicated external power supply and that brings everything up to a further new level. I now have one on back order. Finally a friend who visited and heard the Stack LINK in my system was shocked at how good it sounded. Stunning streamer never misses a beat!
Fab sounding bridge streamer that can be used in any system. I have listened using SMSL SU8, RL Veritas and Chord DAVE dacs to great effect. The SAL is well designed. looks good and I have streamed music with MAC/PC, Sandisk SDD, Synology NAS and Tidal as it has great functionality too. The Volumio remote on IOS and Android works great as does BubbleUPNP on Android. It is a step up from my other streamers from Moon and Elac and I have decided to add it to my Chord Electronics/Wilson Benesch set up as it can hold up pretty well against a Blu CD player.

Small and solid, but huge improvent in sound quality.
The first thing you notice on unpacking is the high build quality and solid feel to the Link. setup was straightforward following the instructions supplied. The Link was attached to my Oppo Sonica dac and the optional usb power defeat switch was turned on (no power going down the usb cable, just signal) The Oppo was attached to my passive pre amp, then into an active crossover which drives 6 channels of Hypex nCore amplification, 3 to each 3 way speaker. The Oppo is no slouch as a streamer itself, so I was more than a little surprised, to notice a substantial improvement to SQ, playing back some well known tracks from a HDD attached to the Link. I then streamed some Tidal tracks, and again, I have never heard that sound so good, the dynamics and inner detail were startling, but not in a harsh way. The first night I listened for 4 hours, and not once did I feel listening fatigue, I just wanted to play more of my favourite music. All this was done with the supplied plug top power supply, as unfortunately, they are awaiting supply of the optional linear power supply, which one can only surmise, will improve the performance. I wholeheartedly recommend this product, it has taken my digital replay, to the highest level, in my opinion.
