Coop goes together in minutes
I needed this coop for an additional 4 chickens. I wanted something temporary while I introduce 4 (12week old chicks) to 2 (3 year old chickens). I currently have a large wooden hen house with an attached 16x10 covered run. We put together this Formex coop in less than 20 minutes. Since I am using this coop within my run, it is quite dark inside the coop so I placed a motion sensor light on inside of the Formex Coop for the girls to find their way to the roosting bars. I like how spacious the inside is with 3 roosting bars and 4 nesting boxes. Looking at the inside, it certainly looks spacious enough for 6-8 large hens. I have 2 Austrolorp, 2 Buffs and 2 Barred Plymouth Rocks which are large hens. The plastic walls are similar to a kids playhouse. Easy to wipe clean and sanitize. Cleaning this coop is quite easy. One could pull out the trays on the bottom to clean or access from the roof depending on the material you use on the floor. I use the tubular sand so I scoop from the roof access. In the nesting boxes, I use the chicken turf grass which is easy to hose down and air dry when dirty. This Formex Coop will never be exposed to sun, rain, or snow so I don’t have an idea on how it will last in those conditions. However, it will be exposed to the NY cold weather in the winter months. If you are planning to use this coop separate from another coop and run, you will definitely need to build a stand for it to keep off the ground. The dimensions of this large Formex coop are quite large. I never really looked or researched it but wish they sold a stand kit for this coop. Plus, one will need to consider a safe predator proof run for the chickens to play in if purchasing this coop. Overall, I like this coop for what I’m using it for. I like how easy it was to assemble and if need be, how easy it will be to take apart and store. My little baby chickens like this coop from the moment we introduced it to them! When they feel frightened in their run, they bolt for this Formex Coop! They feel safe inside 😊
