The 1958 Proof Franklin Half Dollar is one of the more common dates in the series. Especially if compared to the 1950-1952 Proof Franklin Half's which all have a mintage under 82,000. The 1958 Proof Franklin Half is scarce in grades of PR68 and higher. Anything grading under PR68 is fairly common and can be purchased very inexpensively.
As an old time Collector of U.S. Coins..I look for Eye Appeal and Naturally VALUE. I also think you should invest in coins from PCGS or NGC, tamper Proof containers. it's been recorded, and Graded by a Prominent Company.

The older grading companies and the slabs they produced are not only well built, but have numismatic value themselves. Some are quite rare and so demand a high price.
