Mr. Zappa's Opus
You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore is a six-volume collection of what Frank Zappa felt were some of his best live performances. Volume 5 is an interesting compilation from two different decades. Disc one is a compilation of live tracks from early in his career (1965-1969) while Disc two comes from the 1982 European tour and is taken almost entirely from a single date in Stockholm, Sweden. Why Frank decided to package these two disparate discs together in a single volume is a little beyond me, but hey, that's Frank for you. The quality of the recordings is excellent but whether you like Frank Zappa's music or not is largely a matter of taste. Some say it's acquired, other say it's innate. For me, it's somewhere in between. I'm glad to finally have the missing volume 5 to complete my set.
