NotesVinyl LP pressing. As one of the Big Four of thrash, Anthrax helped usher in a style of metal that not only dominated throughout the '80s, but yielded the template for metal to come. Yet while their Big Four counterparts (Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer) were West Coast acts, Anthrax formed in New York City. It's a distinction that set them apart from their peers and the group remains the most notable East Coast metal act of the era, infusing their music with some distinctly New York sensibilities - not least a CBGB-indebted punk intensity. On top of that, Anthrax's grip on melody meant that, for all their aggression and astounding precision speed playing, they also wrote unavoidably hook-laden songs, making them a unique proposition among the thrash metal elite. 1993's Gold-certified Sound of White Noise served as the group's first with vocalist John Bush (Armored Saint) and last with longtime lead guitarist Dan Spitz. Produced with Dave Jerden (Jane's Addiction, Alice In Chains), the equally melodic and menacing affair debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 charts on the strength of the powerful singles "Only," "Room for One More," "Black Lodge" and "Hy Pro Glo."
This is NOT a bootleg as a fellow reviewer alleges. It is pressed by GZ Media which IS a Czech company. This can be verified easily by the etching in the deadwax. The inner sleeves are paper and should be upgraded to better sleeves. It is on 2LP white vinyl to coincide with the title. My copy is flat and centered with very little crackles or surface noise. The mastering is balanced and it sounds good for what it is. It is not an audiophile pressing and therefore not expensive either. I paid $26 with free shipping. I can easily recommend this at this price, sound, and quality.
This is a cheap bootleg with a little white sticker back bottom right "MADE IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC" so basically a Russian bootleg. Digital source probably a CD. Avoid and buy the CD or first pressing if you can find it.
How good is this album? It the greatest Thrash album of all time. You would be nuts not to have it in any collection. Sounds great on vinyl. Do it for yourself. Friends will envy you, family with adore you, chicks will dig you. This album has that effect. its a game changer!
