I purchased this DVD after hearing a couple of sample tracks and I have not been disappointed. Carrie and Leanne both sing beautifully - individually and together - with expression appropriate to the song mood, melody and lyrics. When singing together the two `sing as one`..perfect in both `tune` and `time` DVD also features varying filming locations/sets. Let`s have another please girls!!

I don't know what the book is like of course, but I am going by the show itself, and I will be completely frank. Firstly, the positives. I like stories about people with powers and witchcraft, that kind of thing, and there was some pretty good drama between the two sisters Joanna and Wendy (Julia Ormond and Madchen Amick). The special effects were also very good, and I suppose that is the least you expect these days with advancements in visual effects technology. Some of the episode endings left me wanting more and there were a few surprises in there. The season ending, the cliff hanger was also better than I thought and left me wondering. That however is where the positives end. I thought the characters were okay, including the two daughters, and there was a lot of wit and humour thrown in there, but it could be annoying and I found it a little grating. What I thought could have been much better though was the battles between the villian and the older sister, Joanna, who was trying to protect her two daughters. They lacked the intensity I think they needed. It was almost like the sister could only be in minor jeopardy. The villian was a good one, very strong, a mysterious shape-shifter who often appears near the beginning as the sister's double (no spoilers, don't worry), yet they were almost not allowed to really test the sister out and the battles were nowhere near as intense as they should have been. There was almost no sense of menace or danger for the sister, and lo and behold, as soon as there was, hey presto, saviours came. That's all I feel I can say without giving anything away. I think my main point here is the show was way too tame, it wasn't nearly dark enough. This might have come from the show's certificate, a 12 rating, which was a clue perhaps, maybe wanting to appeal to a wide audience, even kids maybe, but in doing that, they haven't really captured the market I think it had the potential to. Again, I have no idea about the book, or what the author thinks of the show adaption, maybe the book isn't dark, I don't know, but i think for a show like this, dealing with the subject of witchcraft and to take it as far as it could go, I still think it would have been better had they made it darker. I don't know, see what you think ...Read full review

After the brilliant film, the Special Features include an absolutely brilliant piece on the making of the chariot race. Worth buying this DVD just for that.

The movie is a remake of the most iconic Huston original movie. However, its not bad just a modern version.

I found this interpretation of the novel not as good as the original film - too much was left out of the story. Stick to the story, please.

As a person who finds the story of Ben Hur compelling I enjoyed the latest presentation of this epic. The visual effects are great. I find the Charlton Heston version the most absorbing though. The DVD was great value and securely packed.
