Be Transported back to 1959 and THE WINTER DANCE PARTY
It was nice to get a CD with the three poor souls who perished together in that horrible plane crash all them years ago.
Buddy Holly - I have heard numerous recordings of Buddy over the years and he never fails to impress. Its hard to believe 63 years after his untimely death his music is still so good and so fresh. We have to be thankful Buddy recorded so much quality material in is sadly too short life. This album has a great selection of Buddy's songs from the Rock and Roll to the ballads.
Richie Valens - I was not aware Richie has recorded so many songs in his unfortunately too short 8 month career. I was familiar with the usual Richie songs such as La Bamba, Come On Lets Go and Donna. This album contains an abundance of Richie recordings and one can only wonder giving he left us at the far too young age of 17 how huge is career would have been.
J.P. Richardson, The Big Bopper - J.P. was the elder statesman of the tragic trio being the positively ancient age of 28 at the time of his death. J.P. was a larger than life individual both in his physical size and personality and his happy songs such as Chantilly Lace always make me smile. I had no idea J.P. had recorded so much and his good natured happy personality shines through in every song. Guaranteed smiles all round.
It contains a few extras too such as the tribute song Three Stars and Johnny Preston singing the J.P Richardson penned Running Bear.
Use a little imagination and this CD set can give you the feeling of what the Winter Dance Party of 1959 was like
