Based on a true story from the 1960s, this poignant drama tells of six year old Ruby Bridges, one of the first black children to escorted to a formerly whites-only school by federal officers as they tried to enforce the new laws prohibiting segregation. Brave little Ruby was jeered at and threatened by racist white crowds as she tried to get her education. She came through it all and in doing so helped to change America forever. People sometimes forget how much things have changed in 30 years, and how far there still is to go. This is a tear-jerking and emotional reminder. A powerful film.
