Got to admit I was after a cheap Tele when I suddenly needed one to help a band out with some basic guitar work. I had sold my Elite 80’s model and USA Highway One recently as I never used them much (mainly play acoustics & bass these days). So this Sonic was a stab in the dark. Squires can be good so I took a punt on the Tele and thought I’d be able to set it up if it needed it. Boy I was impressed straight away! Right out of the box it felt good, the tone unplugged was incredible, so already knew it was a good buy. And it was in tune from the get go. I’ve bedded it in now as the frets may have seemed a bit ‘new’ but it didn’t take long and it plays like a dream. Intonation perfect, action spot on - no tweaks, which is a minor miracle when purchasing any guitar - even the ones for £hundreds or £ thousands. So for a guitar under £200 which is well set up, built well, sounds great, looks great! You can’t go wrong. I had sold my friend who had an enviable collection of expensive guitars and he had a Squire Strat he bought cheap. It the one he kept playing live & recording with as it was much better than some of his USA Strats multiple times the price. It just goes to show ya!
