This part was enabled me to fix my car at very little cost. The hardest part was working out how to open the bonnet with the lock not working. After several google searches I found a method that involves a well placed screwdriver and more force than you would think to temporarily rejoin the connection between the key and the lock. Once the bonnet was open it was relatively straight forward to replace the old part. All that needed doing was removing the grill and un-bolting the locking mechanism. This part seems very durable and is much longer than the original. It does not look like it will wear down anytime soon. Thanks for making such a simple piece to fix this bad design.

Despatched in great time. Issue with mechanism not the item. The item is fine, but will only fix a very specific type of problem with the mechanism. After reading around hoped this would work. For it to work it relies on the white plastic arm which is (usually) fixed in to the mechanism to have broken off. Ours was still attached therefore not possible to fit. If your mechanism is missing both (or the part attached to the mechanism) white plastic cross head pieces it might do the trick.

Fixing a C Max 2009 bonnet release mechanism. I was relatively confident that it was the original clip that was at fault because the mechanism had been iffy for many months but was still operating intermittently - with patience and persistence. Having seen on the internet what the three likely causes are, singly or in combination, I was able to open the bonnet by pushing extremely hard on the cylinder lock whilst turning the key, again with some persistence. I then took the mechanism apart and I found the lock cyIinder and Bowden cable rotated fully and strongly when not connected to the latch. So adding further evidence to the clip being the problem. I trimmed 2mm off this part before fitting, as other reviewers recommended. 3mm might have been better because it was still a slight squeeze to mate the two parts. Result - the bonnet release mechanism has not worked so well for a long time. This part reminds me of something out of a Lego Technic or Knex set, but if the Ford clip is the fault it does the job very well indeed. Many thanks.Read full review

If you’re reading this it’s because the rubbish Focus bonnet release mechanism has broken. These can break so for the sake of £4, just get one, remove locking mechanism on cross member with the 2 8mm bolts and replace with this fitting. Use thin flat head screwdriver to remove old one.

The item is made of a soft plastic, therefore is useless. I bought a new lock system and I've tried to use this crossbar instead of the original one, but when turning the key to the right to open the bonnet this bar would twist in the middle. It is not strong enough to do the turn to open the metal latch. It would be better and stronger if this was made of metal rather than plastic. I am very disappointed about it, as I've just paid nearly £5 for nothing. This, did not solve the problem. It useless and waste of money, stay away from this product. It doesn't deserve any starts at all. Hope this helps.
