The Bass Below Expectation
Before this I thought the bass would be very massive like a car subwoofer, but it is not. It is still good though, but not like what I expected from a $72 16mm huge driver, which look really imposing. The soundstage is awesome. Mids and highs are good too. the bass are powerfull but not as deep as expected for this price range. It remembers me the Beats Dre Solo... :( but still good globally, you can feel the detail but it sounds like everything is in a small box. An Enjoyable Listen - the SONY MDR-XB90EX/B Extra Bass Earphone
My source is usually a COWON M2 or PLENUE D. I generally use an RSA TOMAHAWK Amp, though I use Practical Devices XM-4 amps as well. FLAC is my code of choice. All that said, I like these. They can thump, the have decent mid-range, and they do not kill with the highs. BTW - I don't do "technical" listening, I just look for an enjoyable experience and after months these are doing fine. Also, I have let a number of phone source users give a listen and they expressed to a one that they sounded great. Strange, as at least one usually liked some other earphones better. Whatever. If they'd cost more I'd've paid it
Worth every cent!!! Outperforms headsets way above their price range. The16mm drivers are not wasted here. Bass response is deep but refined, no where near overbearing. No distortion. The soundstage is just flat out superior. Everything is represented magnificently. The space the mids occupy relative to the highs and the bass is altogether complimentary. The stack is damn near flawless. There is no contention. I hear everything. I can listen to someone like say..Bacharach, then maybe some 90's NY boom bap, Hendrix or Morissette with seamless transition. Whoever designed the MDR-XB90EX's seriously needs to stand up and take a bow for how they've managed to integrate audio here and not be charging way more. Music is everything to me. Great earbuds!!!

The Japanese Sony XB90EX are Amazing!
They have wonderful Deep Bass and clarity from low to high. The 16mm drivers do a fantastic job, just bring your volume up a little because the drivers need more power than smaller earbuds. They're a little bulky and aren't the best for action, but they handle walking, and light running if you have a good fit. They will work in your smartphone, but they don't have a mic or "answer" button, so you will have to talk into your phone's mic. And they hang like standard earbuds, not "over the ear". The XB90EX are my favorite earbuds for that powerful, theater like sound. - Look for real Japanese sellers with 100 percent feedback, when purchasing these.
