    Blown Away

    I play an electric upright bass that had high tension, steel strings installed on it. I was looking for something that was somewhat lower tension, easier on the hands, warmer sounding, which also lent themselves to rockabilly style music and slapping. All other strings I had known about were out of my price range. Then, a fellow electric upright player told me about Weed Wackers. My main comments are, "WOW!", and "YES!". These strings are exactly what I was hoping for. They have a great feel, and are much easier on my hands and fingers. And for around $21 as opposed to $110+...I couldn't believe it! Besides that, however, is the great sound! The piezo pickup on my EUB, coupled with the sound produced by the Weed Wackers, is mellow, bright, clear, warm and just like the sound of an Acoustic Upright. They are low tension, so they allow for slapping, which suits my needs, but can also be played quickly and easily pizz (finger) style. Furthermore, they can also be played with a bow (arco), produceing a very sweet, clear and ethereal sound. Installing the Weed Wackers on my EUB has made it into a whole new instrument, giving me tonal possibilities that I didn't know existed, until now. It was the best $21 I have ever spent.

    just what i wanted

    i am making an upright bass out of my don't throw away pile. the strings fit perfectly they have a mellow tone and are easy on the fingers. this was a great buy.
