too soon to tell
I LIKE THE HAIER 12000 BTU PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER. HOWEVER,I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TEST ITS CAPABILLITIES UNDER EXTREME CONDITIONS. THE UNIT WAS RATED TO COOL A 400 SQ. FOOT ROOM. I DON'T THINK IT WILL COME CLOSE. I LIKE IT FOR I CAN KEEP ME COOL AND THAT ENOUGH.I WOULD HESITATE TO RECOMMEND IT. HOWEVER, I AM USING THE UNIT IN A 45 YEAR OLD MOBILE HOME WITH LITTLE INSULATION AND WORSE WINDOWS ,I WONDER WHETHER I SHOULD REVIEW THE UNIT AT ALL.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Works great, lots of cooling power!
Works great, lots of cooling power! It isn't the quietest, though not really loud, but what do you expect for a 12,000 BTU powerhouse? Relatively easy to set up, with a good connection from the hose to the window plate. Cooled a large room down to 72 degrees F with little trouble on a 90 degree day. No problems with water spilling out on floor when used in A/C mode. Have not tried Dehumidifier-only mode -- just want to use as A/C.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Very cool, figurtively and literally!
Live in Albuquerque NM and it's hot! I have a swamp cooler but when the humidity rises more than just 10%, you just get sticky. So, I took a chance and bought this. The price was right and it does an awesome job of cooling my bedroom which is 15x12. It's been fighting a huge heat wave that we have been having and I even have to raise the thermostat because it gets too cold in the room. Very easy to install the vent tubes in the window. Good air conditioner, and favorable price point.
We have owned several of these units, and this Haier seems to be a good version of the earlier models, cooling very well and operating without any problems. It cools our 850 square foot open living area, with the help of ceiling fans, rather well. In fact, we are quite surprised how well it actually works. I would recommend this air conditioner, and we found it in the $240 range, which is an excellent price. I would most certainly purchase this unit again in the future if I needed another portable air conditioner. I also found the flex tube system in good shape and easy to install in our window for the exhaust. It has a remote, but we prefer to leave the remote docked and simply turn it on or off when needed.
