  • Best value fisheye out there.

I've ticked "durable" but great care has to be taken with the front glass as it is easily marked due to projecting out so far which is unavoidable in such a lens. This lens is great value and a lot of fun can be had with it.

  • One of the best value lenses I've ever bought

Samyang are not so well known at present compared to the other major players in the 3rd party lens market, but if they keep churning out lenses of this quality it can only be a matter of time. This was my first purchase of one of their products but I'd heard good things about this and other lenses including the 85mm f/1.4. For around £200 you get a well built and incredibly sharp lens for your money. The lens is mostly of metal construction with elements of good quality plastic. Where Samyang have cut back here is with the lack of an auto focus motor, however in practice you are unlikely to miss the feature due to the huge depth of field you can get by stopping down to f/8. Images look great out of the camera, and the amount of detail for a lens in this price range is very impressive. Unless you are insistent on having AF in all your lenses, it's hard to see why you would shell out more for the Nikon or Sigma offerings which cost at least double the price of this lens. Most people are unlikely to want to spend £4-500 on a fisheye due to the novelty of such a lens, making this an ideal option at a great price point for people wanting to experiment with crazy angles and unique points of view that a fisheye can offer.
