Campag mechanical levers have always been more intuitive to use than its rivals (want the chain to move outward? Move the lever outward. Want the chain to move in? Move the lever in.), but the thing that's always bothered me is the ratcheted left lever. You have to go thru three (maybe four) clicks to get the chain to move. Shimano left lever does it in one click. In 2015, Campag Ultra-shift was changed to address this. The front derailleur cable arm was lengthened to provide more leverage, and the left shifter was changed to require three clicks at most (and possibly just one click) to shift the chain from small to large ring. I am using this shifter with Shimano Ultegra 6800 compact cranks, Potenza front mech, and 9-spd chain (with 9-spd cassette and Ultegra 11-spd derailleur - it works) and it works great. The real test will be in cold weather with frozen hands, but it's nearing summer, so I won't know for a while...
