    tech support for chinese bikes

This softback book covers chinese bikes based on japanese hon//suz/yam etc. single and some twin cylinder clones/copies, but does not focus on specific makes ( as there are so many and they use similar engines). Details are good and there is enough technical information to solve virtually all problems. There is even detail for stripping down engines and gearboxes -- if you get thas far. Very useful is a big diagnostic problem section at the back to help you identify why the bike wont run and other problems. Haynes paper quality is rubbish and seems to be a cross between newspaper and toilet paper(i'm serious). This is the same for several Haynes books and has been like this for several years. Suggest you photocopy any pages you need to work on the bike before you get them oily or wet as they are very likely to rip or fall apart. Haynes are not cheap and considering how many they sell and that they are used for workshops -- very surprising they use such poor quality paper as it affects the picture quality as well. Unfortunately you wont find better paper anywhere else as they are all the same.

  • Most critical review

Good value for money, needs more wiring diagrams for novices.

Plenty of information on the various Chinese motorcycles, the only thing I could fault it for was that there were not enough variety in the wiring diagrams. Luckily I have worked on car/motorcycle wiring diagrams for years and could extrapolate the expecting wires for various items on the loom, however a novice would be lost and find it very difficult to sort out.

  • If you have a Chinese 'bike you need this very affordable manual. Nice job.

Better than the usual Haynes manuals which tend to be full of poorly defined black and white photos confusingly labelled: they need to get up to date. This is well printed. Covers a huge number of Chinese M/Cs but since they are largely copies or amalgams of prior 'bikes much is known already, but it doesn't cover every detail of every bike, you need to do a bit of digging to find the data you need for your own 'bike. For instance, I have a single OHC 'bike so a lot of the info on push-rod engines and twins is not terribly useful. Mine is supposed to be a copy of a Yamaha 125 and certainly looks it but when you get to the detail the front brake caliper for instance is different. Very interesting forward regarding Chinese M/Cs and the development of the industry, and the reliance upon the Japanese industry whose bikes are apparently made in the same factory, possibly on adjacent assembly lines.

  • General guide to 125cc Chinese Bikes

If you are looking for a generic guide that covers most Chinese 125cc bikes then this is a good buy. It gives a number of options where there are differences between various models. Although new Chinese models are being introduced regularly such as the AJS Cadwell, this will still be a relevant guide for a number of years.

  • Comprehensive coverage

This manual covers the general items of some of the Chinese motorcycles rather than covering specific models. It can be quite awkward trying to relate the information to a model not listed, but it is a good starting point to work from.
