Allowed me to use a charger in the USA
I bought a charger with a 3 pin UK plug, connected using this type of connector. That allowed me to buy this cable when I went to the USA, and not have to buy a totally different charger or use teh kludge of a big adapter for a UK 3 pin plug (they have a habit of working loose from the tiny US sockets).
