There is NO such thing as 1/2.3" sensor ! mixing decimal and old imperial USA it's 6x4mm
Sony make most sensors, and probably have the best software for their sensors. Different camera makers get different Mp sizes from the same sensors. This camera is ideal for a serious photographer because of the 20Mp it gets from the sensor. The software is very good. The 'native' ISO is possibly 100-200. The lens, by Zeiss, has to be good, and doesnt rely on software to correct poor quality optical effects. The camera is heavy, this means a diecast frame. Later models are mostly plastic. Handy and easy to use.
Came without instructions, but I had it figured out in less than half an hour. It does what I want it to... has RAW setting, and BULB. With a RAW file, it's pure data... I can tinker with all settings using an editor on my laptop. And with BULB setting, I can point the camera at a starry sky (using a weighted tripod), leave the aperture open, and capture lots of stars, or star trails. All I need now is a clear night! I also look forward to going out into night-time woods, and painting with light. The camera is not too heavy to lug around too. I like the aperture ring on the lens, with the on/off 'click' option. Handy to use something that feels like the old film cameras. I tend to use manual a lot, unless a quick shot is needed, and then auto is selected.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

The RX10 series of Sony cameras, from series I to series IV are the best bridge cameras ever made by any company. I have been using the series III for several years as my go-to walkabout camera when I want excellent image quality and don't want to carry my kit bag of Nikon bodies and lenses. The Zeiss Vario-Sonnar is sharper than any of the competition and I can use the smaller, lighter series I for the constant f2.8 aperture, or the slightly larger, heavier series III when I need the longer,600mm equivalent, zoom. Light and excellent lens
I have had Sony cameras before but this is excellent as it combines great features with an excellent lens. It takes std memory instead of Sony only versions of the past, so it can have fast memory for video or multishot. The fact that you don't need to use the viewfinder unless you want to.
