I'm very impressed. I've taken hundreds of photos with this camera and these are the features that stand out: Compact form, half the size and weight of an equivalent DSLR. Bright lens, enables you to take pictures in low light without raising the ISO or using flash. Good zoom range (and tele-converter available if you want even greater magnification - it works well). Extensive menu system - comparable to a DSLR. Lots of manual controls and functions if you want to use them, fully automatic if you don't. Electronic viewfinder is excellent, touch screen if you prefer. Above all, brilliant image quality with amazing detail and accurate colour. Bokeh too. In theory the Stylus 1 has been overtaken by cameras with larger sensors, but in practice I've found that the image quality is better than two well known cameras I've had (one with a 1" sensor, the other M43), and neither was as versatile. I rarely go above A4 size, and things might be different at A0, but like most people, I'm never going to go there. One of my best buys on eBay. Read full review

This is an absolutely brilliant camera and it surprises me that Olympus stopped making it. The build quality is excellent and the handling is perfect. There is very little this camera can't do, the amount of settings is almost endless, and the lens has a maximum aperture of 2.8 throughout the zoom range. Since owning it I have been inspired to go out and look for photo opportunities in a way which I have never done with all my previous cameras. Obviously it will not be in the same league as the micro four thirds cameras with interchangeable lenses, but it will run them a close second. I particularly like the ingenious lens cap which opens itself when you switch the camera on. If there is a downside, which it isn't for me, you cannot angle the viewing screen for taking selfies. The picture quality is absolutely superb for a camera of this type, helped by the image stabilisation feature, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it highly.Read full review

I bought my Stylus about 4 years ago and have owned many cameras over the years but this is the first one I have wanted to keep and never trade in or sell! I wanted something pocketable with a decent range from WA to Tele and this one covers most situations. The 2.8 aperture is great for blurring backgrounds. The controls are just right and it is easy to go to manual override when you want to open the lens up form the auto setting. The viewfinder view is large and high quality. Shame Olympus stopped producing these and I suspect it was because it was too good and stole sales from their micro 2/3rds models. If you can find one but one. I hope mine never dies.

Small camera that is styled like the DSLR. The stand out feature on this camera has to be in its fantastic 28-300mm zoom lens. Add to this a good eye-level view finder and a useful flip out touch screen and you get an amazing camera in a small package. Olympus please produce a more modern version of this camera.
