The MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Tripod is a compact, lightweight travel tripod designed to hold DSLRs and mirrorless camera systems. The travel tripod can hold weights up to a 70-200mm f/4 lens steady. The MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Tripod extends its legs into five sections. MeFOTO designed the GlobeTrotter’s legs to fold fully up to 180 degrees instead of having it collapse to each other and fold along the tripod’s neck. When folded to its minimum height, the tripod measures only 16.1 inches, but it can be extended to a useful and impressive maximum height of 64.2 inches. Almost everything on the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter operates by twisting. Its legs extend by twisting the rubberized grips. These kinds of locking mechanisms help keep out dirt and dust that might hinder the locks. The leg shafts are made out of carbon fiber with aluminum joints and locks at two stages. A manual locking mechanism pulls out from the base of the tripod that holds the stages in place. The center column has a hook that can be used to hang weights or bags to add stability, especially in breezy and windy conditions. The MeFOTO GlobeTrotter tripod kit comes with a MeFOTO Q2 Ballhead and a 60mm Arca-Swiss-style quick release plate. The built-in bubble level is on top of the ballhead. Locking mechanisms for the ballhead use three standard rotary dials. The dials have rubberized grips, which adds a nice touch to the overall feel of the design. The ballhead locks tight and moves smoothly in its lateral rotation. The MeFOTO GlobeTrotter tripod accommodates with any ballhead that accepts 3/8-3/16 threads. The MeFOTO GlobeTrotter tripod can also convert into a monopod. The MeFOTO GlobeTrotter tripod has a lot of features to boast. Its super-light, super-durable body that comes in variants of carbon fiber and aluminum easily doubles as a monopod.
