About this product

Product Information

The Tamron SP 150-600MM F/5-6.3 DI VC USD (MODEL A011) Ultra-Telephoto Zoom Lens features VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization, speedy, precise USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) , state-of-the-art eBAND (Extended Bandwidth Angular-Dependency) Coating, which significantly reduces the unwanted light reflections that cause flare and ghosting, and a sophisticated and stylish new external finish. Its 4x ultra-telephoto zoom capabilities, with a focal length range from 150mm to 600mm, enhance the creative potential of telephoto photography, a captivating feature for all photographers, particularly nature, wildlife, and sports shooters. 4x ultra-telephoto zoom lens with a focal length range of 150mm to 600mm The focal length range of this lens was extended by 50mm on the wide-angle side and 100mm on the telephoto side compared to the existing model A08, making it possible to take even more striking photographs of birds, wildlife, sports, and other distant subjects. Mounted on APS-C DSLR cameras, it has a stunning near1000mm telephoto equivalent focal length range of 233mm to 930mm. World class image quality Employing 20 elements in 13 groups and boasting an advanced optical design, the lens delivers a superior balance of resolution and contrast for sharp, clear images. The front group contains three LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements (two in the first group, one in the third) for enhanced optical correction effectiveness, enabling the lens to thoroughly compensate for on-axis aberrations at the telephoto end. The lens also adopts eBAND Coating, developed from state-of-the-art coating technologies, and conventional BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating to greatly suppress ghosting and flare even when shooting under adverse lighting conditions. Achieves a 600mm focal length in a compact easy-to-handle package Ingenious optical design features minimize the movement of lens groups within the lens when zooming. This reduces the amount of barrel extension needed to cover the complete focusing range, making the entire lens more compact. Beautiful background blur effects Adopting a 9 blade circular diaphragm enables users to create beautiful background blur effects (Bokeh), which provide even greater potential for creative expression. This circular diaphragm retains a nearly circular shape even at two stops down from its maximum aperture. VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism creates greater opportunities for sharper handheld photography Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization system uses a three-coil system, delivering significantly sharper images and creating greater opportunities for handheld ultra-telephoto photography. Comfortable autofocus Tamron's SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD features a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) ultrasonic motor drive for swift and accurate AF response, it delivers high torque, very fast response times, and very low noise. The full-time manual focus mechanism allows users to make fine manual focus adjustments at any time even when AF is engaged. Elegant, high-class external finish Tamron has upgraded the cosmetic design and finish of this lens to create a more sophisticated, high-end look in keeping with the demands of discerning full-frame DSLR users. Employing a sophisticated linear pattern rubber grip on the zoom and focus rings and an attractive and stylish tungsten silver brand ring, this newly designed model accentuates its visceral presence with understated elegance and class.

  • Works As Expected, Worth The Money

Although I understand the meaning of the word "Refurbished" and the original product that has been refurbished can be a store display model, a returned model, an open box etc. The company doing the refurbishing is suppose to return the product to as new quality as when it left the factory. So it should look and perform like a product off the factory floor. YOU STILL WONDER, about the quality of work the refurbishing company can provide. I took a chance and VERY HAPPY with the results. I've done a lot of research online comparing this lens with the Sigma equivalent. Because my past experiences with Sigma have never lived up to my past experiences with Tamron lenses, I went with the Tamron. The amount of research I did also created questions as far as if this lens is capable of producing sharp images when shooting "Birds In Flight". Shooting static objects and getting sharp images in not the same as shooting a moving object and when it comes to moving birds, there's a whole lot going on with flight pattern, wing movement, head movement, backgrounds, foregrounds etc to get all in focus! I have been more than plesanty surprised by the quality of images this lens has delivered so far. Every day, with more practice and more experience with using this lens, the images are still continuing to improve! I had been shooting bird photos using an older Tokina 400mm f5.6 close focus prime lens, and have been very happy with the results from that. Wanting the extra 200mm of reach I decided to give this lens a shot and I am SO HAPPY I did! The images from this lens blows those taken with the Tokina out of the water! Clarity, sharpness, contrast, speed of focus, depth of field, all the checkmarks are in the Tamron's boxes. I'm sure there are better lenses and lenses that would be as big of an improvement over this Tamron as it's been over the Tokina. HOWEVER I don't have $12,000 PLUS to spend on those lenses! This is my most expensive lens to day, and it's been worth every penny plus I spent on it.

  • really great lens! MAYBE THE BEST ZOOM TELE AVAILIBLE!

purchased to use for travel/wildlife/action/sports photography I have lugged around prime super tele lenses and zoom lenses like the 100-400mm 35-350mm, 100-300, 75-300 and others.... yup the super telephoto L lenses are pretty amazing, but could be back breaking after hours of hand holding and sure draws attention when walking around with one :/ so to avoid the pestering people asking me about my lens and camera I decided to get a 150-600 tamron, I was worried the IQ and performance would not suffice and I would be very disappointed, but nope, it turns out I am so thrilled with this lens. it is very sharp throughout, No not as sharp as a $10k lens but sure is sharp! the lens focuses fast! I used it with a 7d2 1d2 1ds2 and a SL1 to shoot BIF, action sports and other events, I have captured some great images! If you need a lens with reach and don't want to carry a giant 600mm f4 L lens than I think this is the lens for you! also it is nice having the zoom range instead of switching out lenses... great buy! I highly recommend this lens to anyone!

  • Spendy, but worth it

We were going on vacation to South Africa and I wanted a high-quality, long lens for the game drives, but didn't want to spend a small fortune on glass. After research it came to a toss up between the Sigma and Tamron 150-600mm. After viewing photos from both lenses I liked the ones from the Tamron better and decided to buy a used one in good condition. This lens did not disappoint and can lift your photography from good to professional. It's tack sharp, auto focuses in a snap and solidly built. Both the focusing and zoom rings have the right amount of smoothness vs. drag. It is heavy, so if you're not using a tripod it will give your arm a workout! To get the best results this lens should be mated with a full-frame camera (I used it with a Canon 5D3).

  • Great lens

First off, I only give it 4 stars because of the weight. Yes this lens is heavy. Second, I have not had the opportunity to set this on a tripod and take wildlife photo's but the test shots I've taken by hand seem to be sharp. Image stabilization can compensate at the lower zoom range, but tend to show a little shake at 600 unless you are extremely balanced and steady. Overall I'm very pleased with this lense.

  • Tamron SP 150-600mm Lens for the Canon

I have a number of telephoto lens by Canon and the Tamron SP 150-600 exceeded my expectations. I'm a free lance sports photographer, mostly girls softball fastpitch photography and when I saw the results of the photos taken by the Tamron 150-600 I was amaze at the clarity and sharpness of the photos. Compared to my other, more expensive lenses, this one exceeds expectations.

  • Best value lens of this focal length.

Absolutely on par with the canon/Nikon/sigma/etc telephoto lenses in this range, and in most cases, better.

  • Fun Lens to Shoot With

I took my new Tamron SP 150-600mm lens to a sporting event to shoot photos of my daughter from the box seats across the field, where she was competing. I was very satisfied with the stability control, an with how each of the picture turned out. I'm shooting with a Canon T3i EOS Rebel. The lens is heavy, but not as heavy as Canon's comparable lens, which I borrowed once from my son-in-law. Settings adjustments and focus were quite easy and rapid allowing me to shoot quickly during the action. I officially like this lens after today's shoot. I recommend it to those who are looking for an affordable, yet quality long distance lens.
