The Canon SX160 IS is a bit bigger than many other compact digital cameras. I had planned on using my Samsung WB750 belt case for this camera, but the Canon was too big for the case. I ordered a slightly larger case for this Canon camera. The SD card and the two AA batteries fit in the same compartment of this camera, an easy access flip door on the bottom. The flash lense pops up by pressing a button on the back of this camera. The menu display is typical of compact digital cameras of today. You just scroll through the options as you would with other current camera models. The picture quality is very good, as Canon usually is, but not top-of-the-line, as wasn't expected at this product line level. I shake the camera too much, and the anti-shake feature really saves my photos from blurring! The low lighting dimness can be countered by using the manual setting of aperture and brightness adjustments. Just take a few practice photos to get it adjusted correctly. Overall, I am very pleased with the picture quality, the convenience of AA battery power, and the anti-shake features of this camera. The size is a bit larger than other compact digital cameras, but it is barely noticed. Buy one before they're gone from the market!Read full review
This camera purchase was intended as to be our family compact "cheapie", so I can loan it out to my daughter to use at summer camp. The camera it replaced was a Canon IXY800 IS, which I thought, at the time, was a pretty sophisticated compact camera (for its time). Upon receipt of this SX160, I was kind of shocked at the various manual functions that one could do with this. Granted, the widest the lens goes will be 3.5, so you're a bit limited in terms of macro or low lighting. And, the highest ISO is 1600, so it doesn't have the greatest capability for low lighting. In fact, at 800 and beyond, there is considerable noise. As well, this camera is a bit bulkier and heavier than I had hoped, since this was something I wanted to just throw in my front pocket and just go. That said, this camera is able to take beautiful shots in more situations than I could previously with my IXY800. With shutter control, I'm able to do lots more action shots that I would have previously reserved for my dSLR. Even though it's not great at low light, it's still better than most, and if you're willing to edit the noise afterwards, it should be perfectly fine. One thing I'm not too thrilled with is that it is slow. I suspect that this is the tradeoff for all the computer processing that the unit has to go through. So, unless you already have it set to burst mode, single shots have a fair length of time before you're set to take the next shot. But again, for the price, this was still a real pleasant surprise.Read full review
This camera takes great pictures in good light. It has a sharp 16X lens and 16 MB CCD chip. It is one of the few cameras that still uses the ubiquitous AA batteries. It can be used in complete auto mode or complete manual mode, including manual focusing required in some tough lighting conditions. The only downside is that the camera generates some noise at ISO settings above 200.

I Bought this Camera because I wanted a camera that used AA Batteries and had a 10x or more optical zoom with a wide-angle lens and optical image stabilizer and built in flash What I like most about it is the image quality. It has 720p HD video in stereo sound with the press of a button. You can zoom while shooting your videos and view them easily later on your HDTV through the HDMI connector. The smart AUTO shoots stills and video easy because it automatically selects the right settings. What I dislike about this Camera is it does not have a viewfinder. I have to look at the screen. I have always used 35mm cameras and not use to using the screen. Also is has to many options on the settings witch I'm trying to learn now. I bought this Camera New before Christmas and used it at that time and I liked the quality of the pictures it took. I lost it on a trip and replaced it with this one I got on eBay.Read full review
Having a good friend who already has this camera, I needed one as well so I bought it for taking pictures to put my products on eBay. I don't know what I would do without it and I am still learning more to use it. I am not a camera buff but this is easy to use and certainly fills my need for the shots I need to take. I can't compare it to other camera's and so far have no dislikes about the camera. Any flaws I experience is that sometimes I move and it comes out blurred. So I bought a tripod too. Will experience that soon.
