This type of tool is essential to many of the trades found in woodwork. The Shinwa sliding bevel features an anodised aluminium stock and a 1.5mm thick stainless steel blade. The best aspect is the locking mechanism located on the end of the stock so it never gets in the way. The thumb screw clamps the blade very firmly, and allows the bevel to be flipped for use on either side. The blade can be set at any angle from 0 to 180°. Use to transfer or lay out angles. Stock 150mm, blade 250mm.
better than standard style bevel with the top wingnut, this is well made and feels easy to use, the bottom tightener can in itself be tricky to use in certain conditions but overall a good piece of kit for a competitive price
After buying and braking 3 sliding bevels I decided to pay for a good stronger one that has the adjustment on the bottom of the tool instead of in the middle were it got in the way,I purchased the above one although the body isn't solid it's still stronger than the baker light ones, having the adjuster at the bottom is so much easier to o use and this leaves you to use the bevel flat on both sides, would I recommend this (yes) it's worth paying sometimes that little bit extra ,hopefully it will last longer as well.
This is a good bevel for general carpentry... the lock is secure and the body doesn’t flex or bulge, as reported by some people about similar looking plastic bodied models. The finishing is very good, not pristine but as expected for the price (£18-£25)
