Genuine Garmin product and so much more secure than supplied rubber band unit
I hadn't realised this was actually a Garmin branded accessory. It's strong, secure and so much better than the supplied unit that's secured by a rubber band. Garmin Varia RTL510 Mount
This mechanical mounting is superior to the 'O' ring method supplied with the unit as new. No risk of any rubber age hardening and the risk of failure resulting in the unit becoming detached and damaged. Only one minor niggle (possibly just a personal one) is that the clamp is split across the axis of the seat tube, making it a little wider and prone to catching on the inside of a riders thighs. This would be eliminated if the clamp were hinged along the axis of the bike....Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Garmin should supply this
Good bit of kit for the Varia, manufactured by Garmin, needed to use my own rubber shims for my particular seatpost. A bit more robust than the rubber o-ring fastener securing the Varia mounting in the original supplied. A better option than the rubber bands, but as previously stated as it's limitations, but overall does the job.
A better option than the rubber bands provided with the Varia radar. But beware if your seat post is 31.6 mm like mine, then the two shims provided will not fit around your seat post, I have had to use black electric tape.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Should come with the RTL515
Much, much better than the rubber-band fitting supplied with the Varia RTL515. Holds the radar light at the right angle without any movement - even on gravel. Is it good value?
