About the Author Stephen Shea is an associate professor of mathematics at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. He earned a Ph.D. in mathematics from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and a B.A. with a major in mathematics from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachussetts. For years, Professor Shea has used his ability and interest in mathematics and statistics to analyze professional and amateur sports. At Saint Anselm College, he teaches a course titled Quantitative Analysis in Sports. He has participated in the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. His work has been featured as a finalist in the annual Stat Geek Idol competition on and in the Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports.
