Our thanks go to Tony Sharman for his considerable input in the development of the Strata. You may have a turntable with a good bearing, motor drive, plinth isolation and so on but the all important interface with the Vinyl record has never been optimised. This actually works. Tidies up all frequencies and gives added separation. It is only about half a millimeter, it seems, so I put it on top of a 2mm cork mat. Sounds really good. My system had slightly harsh high-mid which translates as distortion to the ear. This mat significantly changes the sound from poppy and slightly harsh, to well balanced, with a nicer bass, which is certainly not lighter. Just be aware that an azimuth adjustment will need doing. Not a quick swap.

A valuable upgrade for serious audiophiles!
You spend hundreds (maybe even thousands?) on a top end turntable with related improvements (stylus, arm, separate drive control) yet the manufacturers still provide what looks like a piece of carpet underlay on the metal platter to place your valuable vinyl to be played on? Such material is flimsy and prone to static so hence this easy upgrade at a very acceptable price of an Origin Platter Mat. Made of material that is flexible like rubber but does not smell, feel or behave like rubber/plastic. Suspect some form of resin material but anyway it fits perfectly onto the heavy metal platter of my Linn Sondek turntable. I cannot claim the major improvement in audio listening other reviews have stated but would suspect if you start at high level of quality such changes are at best going to be marginal. What you do notice is the near absence of static and the Mat not lifting off with the LP when you have finished playing a record. Simple and easy but very effective if you play a lot of vinyl!
