For considering his other books
I like his country folk but I found the sea captain's characters are all too similar and I would not buy it again I'm thinking of trying his American Indian next hope it's better John

Good book for whittling especially for beginners like me. Has patterns for the different figures and a step by step guide for one of the figures. Beginners can use it as a learning tool and more experienced will appreciate the artistry of Mike Shipley.
