Seems very comprehensive and well illustrated, but coming from Elements I realise I will have to do a lot of reading to understand the rather different approach of lightroom.

A well written book. My teenage son has learnt a lot from reading this book and is now teaching me :-)

I ordered the Scott Kelby Lightroom 5 book as I have used the author's books on Photoshop Elements before and I liked the way he presented the material. The sections of the book are structured in the same way as Lightroom 5 is, so it is easy to refer to a section in the book that relates to a module in LR5. I like the way you can start at the beginning of the book and read it sequentially and follow it in LR5 or as a reference to resolve a particular issue. I like his style of writing, though some may find it a bit cheesy, as it explains clearly and precisely what he is trying to "teach" you. I am new to LR5 and I am finding it excellent mastering the program in a way that is acceptable to you, whether professional or keen amateur photographer
I previously had the Lightroom 2 edition of this book by Scott Kelby so it seemed like a safe bet buying this one. And sure enough, the book is brilliant. It's over 500 pages but you can turn straight to the lightroom 5 trick you want to learn about. Each step is very easily explained and accompanied by pictures and screenshots. I've found everything in the book is genuinely useful. Scott Kelby seems to understand what people want to know about Lightroom 5, and he has a good sense of humour too! Recommend this book to anyone learning LR5, one to keep by the computer at all times. Go buy it!
