Fantastic set up for a casual vinyl fan
After researching a great number of turntables, and setting a reasonable budget, I decided to go with this Fluance player. It came carefully packaged, with clear instructions on how to assemble and set up the tone arm and platter.
This table comes equipped with a phono preamp, in case you are connecting it to a powered speaker or an amp/receiver that does not have an onboard preamp. Mine does, so I do not use it. I used the included RCA cables with grounding wire, but have already purchased a higher quality connecting cable with braided copper to eliminate any slight electrical interference.
Performancewise, I love this thing! It sounds fantastic, and the cartridge/diamond stylus really do a nice job of reproducing all the subtle nuance of my old record collection. I clean the stylus after each record with the Magic Eraser trick (look it up), and it always sounds its best. I can't speak to its longevity, since I have only had it for a few weeks, but so far I am very impressed.
It may not have all the bells and whistles that some, way more expensive, models boast, but this record player does well at exactly what it needs to do: play my old Joe Jackson records.
