Restoring women to history
Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party is an art installation of major significance and this book offers details that highlight that significance. Beautiful design and layout. Each of the 39 women’s place settings on the dinner party table is shown with brief biographies of names on the heritage floor surrounding her. I love this book and refer to a different place setting every day. Also includes essays about the story of the artwork from completion to time of publication, a period of about forty years. A special book for anyone interested in refocusing the male gaze of patriarchal history to include a female view through visual art.
