The only sharpener you’ll ever need. For ANYTHING!
in the past 10 to 15 years, I’m sure I have spent at least $350 to $500 buying, and testing, virtually every style of manual, portable and 110-volt sharpener on the market.
That amount, however, pales in comparison to the number of obscenely expensive high-end artists’ pencils… charcoals, pastels, watercolor pencils, graphite sketching pencils, the works… that I have ground into oblivion, left with nothing but a pile of wood shavings, broken leads and tips.
It’s easy to lose both your money and your mind, very quickly, when despite your best efforts you still manage to pulverize the best artists’ pencils money can buy.
Overtime, a lot of them.
Destroy one too many watercolor color pencils from a 72-pencil set that runs $179, and inevitably, it becomes obvious.
I use primarily Derwent artists’ pencils. Run a quick search under “Derwent” and you will immediately realize why the cost of the wasted pencil far outweighs the price of the sharpener.
Ironically, the worst of the pencil-eating monsters are $30-$50 portable electrics made by very respected brand names.
No more.
Just one Mobius and Ruppert solid brass, stainless steel bladed manual sharpener outperforms… And will DEFINITELY outlasts ... even the priciest of sharpeners.
My personal favorite… the only one I use today, and always will… Is the round, double-holed version.
Take your choice of results. Long, thin and as sharp-pointed as possible. Or, short and abrupt, a point almost as sharp but far more hardy.
The softer than medium, the more I advise using the latter. Try both cutting styles on each one of the two-holed round sharpener.
Experiment with your own pencils of choice, and you will find what you need to effectively sharpen virtually anything you might conceivably use.
I have not yet needed to order them. However, if you need to replace cutting blades, replacement sets are available and well worth the money.
The cost of my education has already been offset by the pile of top-notch art pencils spared the demolition wreaked by the aforementioned pulp grinder counterparts ... Until I finally figured it out.
It’s my sincere hope that you can save the money and gain the wisdom without the cost.
