Not great value, especially if you own his previous books
Simon Hopkinson is a great cook and cookery writer with an excellent repertoire of classic recipes but this book seems insubstantial. Large blank pages for chapter headers and many photos spread out the recipes, a good few of which are repeated from his “Roast Chicken...” books. So, if this is your first of his books and you can buy for a few pounds it’s worth it for some engaging food writing and delicious recipes, but if you already own his previous publications I wouldn’t bother.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

saw a couple episodes of the tv programme this book is the source for and was impressed how it combined simple recipes like rice pudding and neck of lamb with carrot and pearl barley and risotto with a wide range of recipes for a modern audience.
