Kastking Assassin is a KEEPER !!!
I really like this kastking assassin baitcasting fishing reel. It is incredibly light weight at only 5.7 ounces so I matched it with a lightweight medium heavy rod. The reel spins very smoothly. I use it mostly for flipping and worming, because of the extra sensitivity due to less weight. The reel did take me a little time to get dialed in just right, but now that I've got it tuned in perfectly, I wouldn't trade for anything.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Broke within 30 minutes.
Was so excited to pair this with my blackhawk II 7' casting rod ordered with the reel. The reel arrived in a week and the rod 4 weeks from china. I finally got around to using the combo today and the Kastking Assassin was a lemon out of the box. The thumb bar disengaged intermittently after casts and required constant manual flipping of the thumb bar to lock the spool. On top of that issue the line guide stuck to the left side of the reel even after adjustment of the screw on the front causing it to spool on the left side making it useless. The reel has tons of bearing and gear noise as well and feels awful. Extremely dissapointed in my 50$ waste of a purchase for the reel. Ended in me not fishing my entire weekend backpacking trip. I will be sticking to Abu Garcia from here on out.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Nice reel out of the box for the money
Great reel for the price. However I had to do quite a bit of maintenance to it to get it to work right. Right off the start it developed a bad reel/ bearing screech. I had to thoroughly clean out the packing grease and oil from the bearings and relube to get rid of the screeching noise it made when casting. After that it seems pretty flawless. Haven't pulled anything in over 4 lbs yet so I can't comment on the drag yet....Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This is my 5th Assassin Reel. they are extremely light weight,cast a mile and very easy to dial in with the brake adjustment wheel on the spool instead of pins. I rarely get a backlash. Drag on this reel will pull a freight train. Best value in reels today!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

One sexy reel.
While this was my first casting reel I ever bought, it might be the best one I ever will buy out of this style. It does not get as long of a cast as my spinning tackle but it is very good at hitting my target and the reel looks damn sexy too on my ugly stik elite. Great Reel!!
