Comprehensive, clear and a useful CD is available. Easy to identify with the black banjo propped against a tree.
This is the best starter banjo tutor. Methodical progressive chapters detail technique, going from absolute beginner to advanced. The corresponding tabs are by several well-known players giving welcome variety. Ken Perlman is a maestro and some of his tabs in the later chapters are beyond mere mortals. I have played banjo for 20 years and never had the ability or felt a need to finish the last chapters. I have recommended this tutor to at least a dozen would-be players

Best book to learn clawhammer banjo
I've tried pretty much every book that teaches Clawhammer banjo and this by far is the most comprehensive. Only thing is I wish it came with the DVD for better tuition. Nevertheless, fantastic book.
