Whgat an incredible crisper!
I used a Tupperware lettuce crisper for over 40 years, but sometimes it was too small for a big head. And it didn't hold vegetables that were of different sizes and shapes. When I unpacked this one, I thought it was a big joke, but it really is terrific! It holds a lot, has a well-marked vent for different types of produce, and my lettuce really SNAPS when I break it. Also, it keeps stuff fresh for WEEKS. I cant' believe what a cool crisper this is.I love it SOOO much! My only complaint is that the lid is made of thin plastic, and after I washed it on the top shelf on my dishwasher (per instructions), it's really hard to get it on the base part. This Veg Keeper is going to save you a lot of Not thrown out food!
I use a lot of Romaine Lettuce. Usually buy 3 to 4 a week. By the end of the week most of the outside leaves are nasty with not only brown spots but the wilt. And that is taking care when I buy it and get it home. I sprinkle with water paper towels and wrap loose. This Keeper keeps the Romaine so crisp and fresh! Better than just picked. So since I am not throwing out the outside leaves anymore I will be saving at least 2 heads not having to buy each week due to waste. Works so well I bought another one. Exactly What We Needed!
We bought this to put cut up watermelon in, because the juice would pool in the bottom and the watermelon would go bad. The lettuce keeper lets the juice flow through to the reservoir and the watermelon stays fresh. I'm sure this would work with any fruit or vegetable. We love it!
