I don't review many products but this one deserves one. this products work very well and looks of a quality that should last. it has worked in reducing our energy useage because before we depended on the built in thermostats on the electric fires we were using and they aren't very good but this plug has done everything i have wanted from it. I recommend it!!

Pros: 1. Simple to use and set-up. Clear display. 2. Item small and lightweight so totally unobtrusive. Cons: 1. temperature increments should ideally be set at 0.5C and not 1.0C, especially as the thermostat kicks in when temperature falls 1.0C below the set level. 2. Instead of countdown timer the item should have a schedule timer, to avoid having to set it to operate at specific times over and over again. However, I combined it with analogue timer and works fine. 3. Temperature appears to be recorded by portable monitor unit and not the wall unit. This means you cannot monitor the temperature in one room from another, which would be useful, for example, if you wanted to check the temperature in the kids room without having to potentially disturb them at night time. 4. Drains batteries too fast. Read full review

The units are quite useful but do have problems, I purchased three. Problem one they all work on the same wavelength so if you get the remote in one room close the plug in another it will operate the plug in the wrong room (through the wall.) Problem two the remotes sometimes when they have been switched off via the remote lose their connection with the plug and it takes a while to get it to reconnect. Problem three the on and off temperature varies by slightly more than plus and minus one degree, so if you set the temperature you want at 20 the remote doesn’t switch off until 21.2 has been reached, then it doesn’t switch back on until the temperature has dropped to 19- that may not seem much but a drop of two degrees is quite noticeable in this cold weather. Oh and be prepared to use a lot of batteries in the remotes, I’m getting just over a week of use per remote, good brand batteries not the cheap ones. The good advantages you can switch heaters off when going out so saving money unlike storage heaters and you can if wanted leave them on low to keep a room aired. Not too low though remember the the degree drop in temperature. Read full review

I already had one of these units, branded differently, but was concerned having two, they may have interfered with each other, so it was pleasing to find they dont, and they do just what I wanted. neat unit operates accurately and I like the fact you can fit in line between a plug and socket when you want.

Out of the box the device defaulted to "cooling mode" showing the standard ice crystal freezer symbol on the top row. Meaning it powers the switch when the current temp is above target temp - to run a cooling device such as a fan when an area becomes too hot. Nothing in instructions advised how to switch to "heating mode". Messing around I discovered: After inserting the remote batteries the freezer symbol flashes for about five seconds - in that moment press the +(on) button - button 5 in the instruction sheet - and the freezer symbol switches to a flame symbol to indicate it is set in "Heating mode" and the unit turns on your heater when the temperature fall below your set target temperature.
