Great little drive to replace an old hard drive.

Bought this to speed up my sluggish old PC which took nearly 5 min to load Windows. Easily replaced my old HDD, reinstalled windows and startup time now less than 30 sec with no churning after Windows loads. The read/write time to this disk is super fast compared to my old drive. Overall a cheap and easy way to make an ageing PC run like new (and the old drive can be used as storage).

  • Most critical review

    I hadn't thought it through

These are fine SSDs, the problem was that these turned out to be a bit smaller in capacity than I required. I expect that I shall find a use for them at some stage.

  • Ideal for a laptop

It arrive on time, is what it says it is. It was easy to install in a HP laptop, and has happily accepted Windows 10 Pro Spring edition. Great speed improvement on the supplied (but much bigger capacity) mechanical hard disk.

  • Affordable performance upgrade

I have a laptop that runs an i5 Cpu but it's been rather sluggish even after a fresh install. It took around 2 minutes from power on to actually being able to use it. I replaced the hard drive with this ssd and now it takes around 10 - 15 seconds from power on to using the laptop. The overall machine is much more nippy and responsive and actually better than the day it was new. I've used ssd on my desktop for years which is why I did this to my laptop. This is a very affordable upgrade for just over £20,its a DIY job to install, and almost anyone can reinstall windows (if not sure, watch YouTube) and add a bonus, the old drive you remove, put in an external case for about £5 from ebay and you have an external hard drive. So don't go spending £hundreds, grab one of these in whatever size you feel the need and give your machine a boost. Note: the larger the ssd the more it costs, so i have on my desktop a 240gb ssd with Windows and my key software on, and a mechanical hard drive with all my films, music, photos etc on a their much cheeper fit large drive..

  • First SSHD

Great little solid state drive which is ideal if you are upgrading an old system. I still use a traditional hard drive for storing all my media and important data, but if you are reinstalling your operating system then this makes a tired computer very snappy indeed. Gone are the days it took 5 minutes to boot up to a usable desktop, in less than 30 seconds it's ready to go. The drive is a 2.5" form factor which is good for laptops or desktops alike. Rather than spend money on drivebay converters for the latter I just used a few cable ties through the mounting holes and attached to the side of the drive bay brackets. It weighs barely anything and has no moving parts anyway. The read/write speeds are impressive for such a budget device and if used as a boot drive rather than for any work it should last many many years. The drive case looks pretty durable and you can remove it if you so wish. The pcb and chips inside actually occupy only half the space.

  • Much better performance compared to HDD

Kingston is a brand I generally like, mainly because they use their own chipset. So you know the quality is consistent. When using a SSD over HDD, you get instant massive improvement in performance.

  • Happy with my purchase

What can I say? 3 x Kingston 120GB SSD's for £50, what's not to like? Admittedly these are not brand new,. However I've bought second-hand before, paying £20 for one drive. All in all I'm happy with my purchase.

  • Great value and speed

My laptop was getting too slow to use. Decided to update to an SSD. This has made it faster than it was when brand new. Highly recommended.

  • SSD Hard Drive

I put the new SSD hard drive into a external hard drive case (bought separately). At first my laptop didn't recognise the new external ssd hard drive, but once i managed to format it to fat32 it worked perfectly. It's very fast and aloud me to transfer all my photo's that were taking up a lot of space on my laptop freeing up a lot of space and gave me room back on my laptop to use for other things. It's very fast and well recommended.

  • Says it all. No need to elaborate further.

Installed in my very slow laptop. Now I have to get used to the much higher speed speed at which it operates. I should have purchased the SSD much sooner. Very pleased with the purchase and now contemplating purchase of a higher GB SSD for my desktop due to the improvement in operating speed. Nothing bad I can say about the purchase or the item.
