have had several compressor based dehumidifiers in the past, which boast greater capacity. Last year, i bought a mini "dessicant" dehumidifier for a problem wardrobe and it fixed the damp better than the much bigger compressor humidifier. i was really impressed. in winter, my compressor dehumidifer just didn't seem to be pulling enough so i thought i'd give the dessicant type serious consideration, to potentially replace my ageing larger unit. Although the quoted capacity was significantly less than my current model, the energy consumption of the Ecoair was much lower, so i thought i'd give it a go. Not only is it much quieter, even on laundry mode, than my compressor model, it pulls so much more than my current larger unit. i was really surprised - emptying the container every day. it even pulls moisture at low temperatures, where my old unit would just give up the ghost. i like the design - lightweight with a carrying handle, the tank is on the side, is slimline and has an in-built handle - much easier. been using it for a few weeks now and leaving all the doors open upstairs, it's dried out my bathroom and brought the humidity in the bedrooms down to 50% from 70-80% - totally amazed at the power of this little unit. should have switched to one of these dessicant dehumidifiers years ago! bravo EcoAir!
