Great device at a reasonable price.
I have used many of this type of device at my work for many years and they were all very high end so I am used to what to expect from them as far as sturdiness, usability, performance, and quality goes. I am now retired and I needed one of these for when I do occasional jobs I contract for. This is everything most anybody would ever need and it works very well. It has numerous, very usable functions and for the money is an excellent choice. The only thing it does not do that I am used to is give wire length measurements but I am OK without that. (Apparently they do offer a model above this one that does for quite a bit more money). All in all, this is great for a full time pro or the occasional use home owner. Klein tools makes a better model then this
This is the junior model. The next version up measures full cable length and also will tell you how far away a fault is in the cable making for easy repair. it's worth the extra money to invest in the best the first time. VDV Scout out shines the pack!
Light weight and easy to use when out in the field or just checking patch cables. Testing keystones for signal or label a mess of wires. This product has been a real time saver for me several times. No more tracing Ethernet cables, phone lines or even coax cable the hard way. By using the coax or Ethernet remote ID's, tracing cable has become a simple task. Fine cable tester
It did what it said very well. If you are installing Cat5e or coax cables, terminating them and need to test to make sure the connections are good and in order, this does the trick. Excellent tool for your bag
As a network engineer who occasionally has to terminate or track down cabling it’s convenient to have this by my side. The ease of use for mapping and IDing cables makes it quick to work and move on. Expandability is also a nice feature although I’ll admit if I used regularly I would spring for the the LT model that also does length measurements.

Small and Handy
If you do any structure wiring (t.v,phone,networks) this is a great tool for you. I wish it didn't take 3 screws to remove the 9 volt battery for storage but it is not a big deal. If you are thinking of buying one stop thinking and get it. I was debating on getting a cheap network tester for $16.00 to $25.00 and I couldn't do it and I a happy i didn't do it..... The Scout Pro 2 does exactly what it advertises. Able to find partially severed cables on my home network during the check out of the lines. Paid for itself with the one job. I use it for Network cable testing and mapping ports. It's awesome. I like the fact that I can put the port mapper plugs in multiple jacks and then go back to the switch and identify which one is which and not have to do it one by one like I used to.
