Easy to set up and use plus power and precision.
The variable speed and direct drive plus a powerful 2/3 hp motor get the job done quickly whether it's drilling a 1/2" hole or a 1 3/4" Forstner bit. Very clean cutting without having to be concerned about changing belt position to get the appropriate speed. How to go from "good to "excellent"
It's a "Good" drill press. $ improvements would make it an "Excellent" drill press. 1. Drill depth stop. On the left side, all thread with gradations. (I welded a bar to the steel collar above the chuck and another to the cast iron base above it. (works great.) 2. Better clamp on the table. (Tighten it all you want, it can still move.) 3. Better finish on the table. (It's ruff, done fast) 4. 4 holes on the base for mounting to work surface. (Comes with only 2 close to the pipe. It a can rock back and forth.) 5. Make the motor 120/220 vac. (I know, but it would be very cool!) 6. Replace the plastic knobs. They strip out easy and fall off. Wen 10" Variable speed drill press
Variable Speed change on the fly is just flat amazing, I had to open it up to see how this was done. It has variable sheaves for the drive belt just like a ATV/UTV clutch set up. It has great power, have used a 9/16" drill bit without any problem. Good quality, added features.
Overall, this is a great quality press. The laser aligner is handy, the hand crank on the table is nice, but the handle operated variable speed control is it's best feature. Best buy table top drill press
Box is heavy so not surprise something got broken. Plastic box containing the switch and digital display broke off, but worked! Packing taped it in place and called Wen. They took care of it under the warranty and sent out a replacement. The rest of the press assembled fine. Love the variable speed @500-3200rpm and laser pointer! Adding a milling table and vise!

WEN 10 VARIABLE DRILL PRESS
You can pay a lot more for similar drill presses but for the price I paid this one it's a great value. If you look at a Jet drill press it looks identical. probably made my same manufacturer. The costs 40% more. I looked at several bench drill press reviews. Wen was always on top or a least in the top 5. For most do it yourselfers this is an excellent drill press for most jobs. I paticularly like the variable speeed with digital readout. No more fiddling with belts.
