H.M.S. Hood still sailing on
Glad to see that this kit is still available in Airfix’s current roster. Originally launched in 1960, and repackaged several times, this kit is demanding in todays market due to it age as regards finesse and correctness around the base of the funnels. However the scale 1/600 makes this quite a large and acceptable display replica with its 131 parts. When the kit is complete the scope and beauty of H.M.S. Hood really shows itself, and the lines of this battle cruise replica are entirely acceptable and eye catching to everyone. The price range of 16 - 19.00 pounds is entirely the motivation to go out and purchase one. True other kits are perhaps more truer to the Hood, but it is nearly 60 years old and still extremely well received and liked by all model makers. Finally yes it does require a little extra work, but hey that’s what modelling is all about is it not? Not what it seems
