Entertainment countering "political correctness"
For late 60s-early 70s it is original and highly creative. However, first season promoted aggrandizement of black characters, characteristic of the period that proclaimed "all cultures are equal" with the "communist-correctness" fantasyland decree Central Africa and Western Europe were identical in literature, architecture, art, science, medicine, etc.; except for "racism" by "unenlightened," "provincial" people who based views on truth and reality. Fortunately, second season focused more fully on entertainment with "Maya" (Catherine Schell) character that could transform into any animal. Cinematography of Light Storytelling
I’m a cinematographer now and I grew up watching this show...plus I also worked with Martin Landau so great to revisit. Also perfect timing to kill time during the virus pandemic.
