Lenny's Last Mahler 2 is his best
This is one of the best versions of this work, along with Klemperer (EMI), Solti (Decca), Walter (Sony), and Chially (Decca). It is quite deliberate, but it works. Every marking is observed with great care to bring out the specific effect in the score, balances are perfect so everything is audible, making this great work sound new, as though you've never heard it before. Of course, there are other ways of playing this (see above), but none better. Good sound.

Bernstein's emotionally rich take on Mahler 2 "resurrection"
Leonard Bernstein presents Mahler 2 using a rich palette of deep emotions. Although the first 2 movements might sometimes come across as a bit heavy handed, there is always a sense of purpose and drive as Bernstein is capable of projecting immense musical arches. From movement 4 onwards the interpretation is unequalled. Deep, rich, but never too slow or laborious. Truly a fantastic effort, with majestic singing by Christa Ludwig. Not everybody's cup of tea perhaps, nonetheless a magnificent interpretation without doubt.

Bernstein wrings every drop of drama from Mahler's score - and the orchestra, chorus and soloists are superb. The sound is excellent.
