The good bits: A compact fast battery charger (compared with my old one that took many hours to charge) that will cater for pretty much all your small battery needs, if you have the appropriate rechargeable batteries of course. Good clear display showing charge status, including if the battery is good or bad. Fast charge times too, for example: my totally run down AA batteries took about 3 hours. The bad bits: The plastic lid is very flimsy and needs beefing up, I don't think it will last long. It won't charge a batterie if there's only one (except the 9v)

The charger is constructed of a fragile plastic that would crack if dropped. However for the price of it, it was worth it. It charges fine, but with a few niggling points. I have found that you require two batteries in the charger before it would start to charge. Meaning no single battery charging. I could not have two different makes of batteries in the charger as it produced a battery bad signal, although on my taking of below images it did. It also doesn’t re-charge batteries below a certain drained state also giving a bad battery indication. I placed it into another charger that gave it a boost, after that it would start the process. Whilst taking the photos I used batteries that were fully charged and they were going through the process of charging. I then removed them to place on the opposite side and they then sowed bad. There are people who are going to believe that they have damaged batteries and get rid of perfectly good ones. I’m going to look for another battery charger as this is not reliable. Would I buy it again; No. the old adage, you get what you pay rings true.Read full review

I use a lot of rechargeable batteries and I only buy good batteries because I want them to be reliable and at the moment I only have Duracell batteries. Previously I had a Duracell charger which had a fan and was ok but ... if you moved the charger the fan would stop and you'd spend ages trying to persuade it to restart charging again. And even if it functioned it would not fully charge all the batteries. This Energizer Universal charger is in a different league: it is not temperamental and reliably charges every battery that I have. This charger is well worth the money. I give it A+++++

I needed this for several sizes and it fits the bill for a domestic or light office use..charges 5 sizes ! Seems well built and appears to do what it says...have only had it a few weeks. It has not found a "bad" battery yet though it says it is able to do so. If that works it is a good feature as some of my batteries are old now and must be marginal. It does not get warm in use as my old one did which pleases me. Plug has one screw so I assume one can replace a fuse. Seems a good choice for the money...was offered a cheaper one from Europe but decided not to risk it. I would recommend it as being of good value and quality.
