Stanley could have done better.... They're not ready to use from the box!
Surprised that Stanley don't do a a higher quality check on these before packaging them! The sharp cutting end of each chisel has a very cheap and nasty finish - in that they have a rough slightly burred edge, not the nice fine precision machined finish you would expect. Guess that's why they supply these with the carborundum stone & oil so that the buyer can spend or waste time 'depending on how you look at it' getting the finish 100%.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Purchased a chisel set for cutting out of hinges and tubular latch etc for x2 oak doors. Plastic storage is far too weak and tacky for containing. Chisels seemed to lose their sharp edge very quickly. My First Quality Set Of Wood Working Chisels.
I had never had a need for a good set of chisels until I started installing new doors in my house and needed to fix hinges. This set was so sharp (and retained their edge) that even my attempts looked pretty reasonable and my technique improved with the number I did. Perfect set even for a novice.
