    Old, but still very good.

I had (have) a Nexus 7 2012 which was (is) excellent, although the 5.x OS did its best to brick it - it was so slow, reverted to 4.2.2. Over time it seemed to get slower, which it didn't of course, websites and apps get more bloated and slower, but that is the effect. So, purchased a 2013 version, 32GB. Quite a speed improvement and it also runs 6.0.1 OS. Not that frankly there is much difference that isn't cosmetic, but in the end with old OSs you get into compatibility problems with new apps that won't support them. The screen is much higher resolution - in theory. I say that because the 2012 was so good anyway you don't really see any difference. It's an excellent screen, let's just say that. The battery life appears a bit longer. It weighs slightly less. Front and rear cameras are nice, both work well. Space has gone up (32GB) but not as much as you expect. I think (unconfirmed) this is because the 2012 had a system partition plus 16GB, where as the 2013 just has 32GB, full stop. Therefore, I suspect a 2013 with 16GB would be a bit space challenged if you wanted some music on it. I have a 16GB Nexus 5x phone as well, and that has much less space than you'd expect. One point to bear in mind is that memory is not expandable on any of these. Basically therefore, nothing earth shattering, but a nicely tidied up revison of the 2012. The Nexus 7 is getting old now, but it is still an excellent 7" tablet. Worth the money.

  • Most critical review

    Lightweight with great features

The overall price and shipping time it was wonderful. The only down side is that there is a small area on the screen that is problematic with my finger and my bamboo style pen. But i think i can live who it according to what i have spend! Also i was expecting longer battery life time but i guess sketching apps drain your battery fast. This is my first tablet so basically i don't have a reference point or experience with tablets. Other than that really good and stable tablet for all round use.

  • Great Tablet

I had a 2012 but when it wouldn't run Grim Fandango I bought a 2013. Ten years on the screen resolution on a 2013 still runs rings around any modern tablet (except perhaps iWotsits?) My 2013 screen resolution ceased to work and the USB port ceased passing data. Google should be hung and drawn for creating the NAND memory issue, and quartered for never addressing the issue. (Are you reading this Google?) The N7 gradually ground to a halt which I coped with by installing Fast Reboot Pro, but despite its automated functions you still have to keep on at it. Then during one one of the endless lock ups, I stabbed so hard at the screen in frustration that I made a few crazed cracks in it. Then part of the bezel snapped off. None of the foregoing dissuaded me from buying a replacement, it had just advanced to B.E.R. I immediately rooted the "new" N7 and I'm a happy bunny once more. They're good, and I'm still not aware of anything else comparable at sensible prices (are you reading this Apple?) which might go some way towards explaining why even after ten years I hunted down a replacement. YMMV of course ...

  • Really quite surprisingly good.

Rather than spend the money on an Ipad Mini (Household has multiple Full sized ones). I decided to see if the smaller form factor worked well for "out of home" use. Well, I am very impressed by the Nexus, Android has improved immensely and so much better with the Nexus regular updates, this to me is critical, with the speed of malware changes. This is the biggest reason I avoid Android, but the nexus makes up for that. It does take a while to get a GPS lock on a train, where an Ipad is near instant, and not as nicely made, but for the price, very impressive. Buyers really should buy a Cheap QI charging plate, the port for a power lead seems VERY fragile. When it gets old or breaks, I will buy an Ipad mini though, as good as android has become, I prefer IOS, but I am glad to have had the experience of a well made android product.

  • Pretty good overall

This is the second Nexus 2013 I have bought. I used my previous device every day for about 4-6 hours. I bought my previous device in 2013 and only recently did it start having problems. Hence buying a replacement. I have never had any other tablet device so don't know how this compares, but I am very happy with it.

  • Nexus 7 (2nd gen. 2013) 32gb 7"

This is my second Nexus 7" tablet. IMHO as tablets go very hard to beat. Loaded with facilities and being Android has access to more apps than you might ever need. This is my constant companion when travelling. Hard to imagine life without it. It's my Kindle, my email, my satnav, the list goes on and on. And my experience of your seller was first class. Well done! Norm

  • Still a top end tablet

Although this tablet is now getting on to 3 years of age, it still has a better screen than most others and is quick at loading with all the very latest updates still comimg as soon as Google release them. Still plenty of life left in them yet
