Effectively stopped small leak from gas hob
Having pulled the knobs off my ageing gas hob, unscrewed and pulled out the sprung valves to decrud them, I noticed a slight leak from one gas ring upon reassembling, and that the knob wouldn't turn smoothly. I oiled the taper plug with lithium, then silicone grease which improved the leak for a week or so, but then the smell returned. Thankfully a DIY forum provided the answer: graphite grease/molykote 1102. None of my local plumbers merchants seemed to have heard of the stuff, so I had to buy online. Worked straight away. Abdolutely no gas smell so discernible leak, and saved me a few hundred quid in not having to have a new hob fitted. The stuff I received though was an 80g tube of Regz15 and not the 50g of Molykote as pictured, but I'm sure it's essentially the same stuff.
