Connects to TRRS devices such as iPhones, iPads ect. The MICON-11 is designed to connect to TRRS devices such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and select Android devices. The RØDE MiConTM connector system provides seamless integration between the RØDE HS1 headset, PinMic and Lavalier microphones and a wide range of wireless systems.
Regardless if you are using a standalone application for recording or need to clearly articulate during telephone calls (or other voice to voice app), using a rode lavalier or headset microphone, this is pretty much the ultimate in quality with the added bonus of being discrete. The rode connection system requires adapters for XLR / plug in power microphones / smartphone TRRS connection. THis is the latter adapter which goes straight into the 3.5 mm socket of your phone.
the problem with this, if you are trying to hold a 2 way conversation, is that the headphone is knocked out, and you may need an additional adapter, the rode SC6 which splits the TRRS into headphone and (dual) microphone input. If you are doing plain dictation or recording then nothing further is needed.
the alternative is to get a smartlav however it is limited function, purely for smartphones, but use this and use your original rode microphone for professional recordings and smartphone use.
i am using this with a samsung android, so there is no reason why using iphone will be any worse!
this adapter will not allow you to connect a 'plug in power' stereo microphone input (e.g. sony / aiwa / tascam etc. 3.5 inputs.)
this cable is MONO only.
