    One of my better purchases.

Didn't fancy paying out large amounts of cash for a brand new one, and saw this on ebay at a very good price. Appears to be ex-Argos stock - have searched high and low and I can' t find any marks or blemishes on it. Easy to set up with its self-install feature and it's easy to programme recordings. Recordings are good and sharp, and all features appear to be working correctly. Vendor is confident enough to offer a warranty. Only time will tell if it is durable, but so far I'm very pleased.

Looked Good at First, but Turned out Faulty

This initially looked like a good purchase at a bargain price. All seemed well to start with. Easy to set up and use, and was working fine as a receiver, and as a media player through the USB port. However, things took a turn for the worse when I tried to watch programs that I had recorded on the unit. It would only play back 10 minutes or so of the recorded program, then it froze and would not allow the rest of the program to be watched. Tried stopping the program and restarting it, but kept doing the same thing over and over. Tried formatting the drive, and starting fresh with newly recorded programs, and the unit kept doing the same thing again. Had to return it for a refund, which was a shame, because initially I thought it was going to be a good little Freeview HD recorder.

  • A very good buy

I saw this on ebay and it looked and sounded great. having received it, I was amazed it was in such a small box. That was good as takes up much less room tha my old Samsung. Probably my fault that I read it that the smart features were built in and did not realize that had to connect another source. That aside, it works really well and easy to use. So far, good value for money. I would definitely recommend this product.

  • Refurb: Bush B500PVR Freeview+HD

The first PVR that I have bought, at a bargain price on eBay Looks new out of the box and was easy to set-up. Only drawback that I've noticed so far is no red lights on box case indicating when It's recording. The quality of the TV recordings are very good. HDCP so you can't make another copy to remove. On a section of the hard drive you can also add your own media, mp4 and mp3 files etc; Made by Vestel look it up. Vestel seem to have things pretty much sorted in terms of ease of use and intuitiveness. The same handset does all Vestel makes.

  • Replacement for my last recorder

Hi Went with same make Bush as had the last one for nearly 8 years. This one has connection for web which is not much use as its not wi fi needs cable. The recording is easy the channels are all there took me a while to work out the aeriel as diagram in instructions didn't work out on my TV. On the whole its fine.

  • Good as new

Product arrived in good time and was in it's original packaging etc. It is actually quite small (which is good), we were hoping so as no sizes were on the description but the remote seemed huge compared with the box in the picture. It is fairly easy to use and the set-up was at a press of a button (as it should be). A negative would be that the box does not show it is recording - you would need to turn on the tv and press the "guide" or the "library" button on the remote to confirm.

  • Great Value Unit

A great value unit which does everything you require. Can record two channels at once, easy to navigate menus, EPG loads quickly for the whole of the week ahead (unlike many others I've tried), and remote control is nice and big so no searching for small fiddly buttons. Scart and HDMI connections, also an Ethernet connection should you require it for t'internet, and USB too. Great unit - very pleased with the purchase.

  • Small in size, big in features

Great little box. HD and RF cables supplied. Pros: Exterior in perfect condition. It's compact, simple to set up and easy to use, Automatic low wattage standby . Comprehensive instruction manual. Excellent recording quality. Red button access and EPG. Cons: No padding for timed recordings but it can be done manually.

  • Has a lot of great features

This one has all of the hidden features that I needed on my TV Recorder. One of the features didn't work properly (details below), but the point is it is all there. For example, being able to skip forward/backwards 2 minutes by clicking. Not all TV Recorders do this, but once you've used this feature, you can't do without it. This one even allows you to choose the number of minutes you jump. When viewing the EPG, you can still hear the sound. They don't all do this, so I call it a feature. But the best hidden feature, which I guess hardly anyone uses or knows about, is Archive Playback, where you can line up programs to play one after another. Initially pleased that this was on there, I was disappointed to find that it basically doesn't work. In all my many tests it always stopped part way through the list of programs, therefore rendering the feature useless. The DVD-R will be spoiled, unless you watch what you're recording for 6 hours, or check it regularly. Shouldn't need to. I also tested it without a DVD recorder attached. Same thing happened. Have yet to try it on another TV though, to be fair. I got a replacement, which showed the same consistent problem. But I kept it anyway because it has so many benefits, and I couldn't have the seller pay 4 postage costs and not get a sale at all. Another disadvantage I'm currently finding is that, although it's a twin tuner, when I'm watching a program, as soon as it starts recording another, it tells me I can't watch the program I'm watching, so I have to switch over to the recorded one. But then I press P/P and can carry on watching the other one, so there clearly was no valid reason to stop me in the first place! This has happened a few times. Not perfect, but great for the price.

  • All in all, a super little buy!

Great little box. Still getting used to some of its aspects but then, i have only had it set up (easily!) for a day or two, So far, i am pleased and impressed and looking forward to getting more familiar with it over the next few days. For the record, I had bought the same set as a Christmas present for a non-tech friend of mine who phoned Boxing Day to tell me how happy he was to have received it and just how it enhanced his viewing opportunities.
