Better than expected
I was surprised it arrived so soon and didn't realize 40lbs was that heavy! Anyway, the whole apparatus is made of metal/steel, which is great and what I wanted. Not like those weights that are composite plastic filled with sand or something. This set will last forever! I think I've made a great investment in this set. No problems, no worries, no complaints! Thank you for advertising these at such an affordable price. 👍 Well it takes a real man to admit his mistakes. I mentioned these were made of metal/steel. I was wrong. After I started using them, I did notice the stoppers, which means they are filled weights. But! Wow! They look great. The material looks like steel/iron or some kind of metal. Whatever, I really like them. The weight is great - and you can change from (2.5lbs X 2) or (7.5lbs X 2/4) or (2.5lbs+7.5lbs+7.5lbs) or double the 7.5's! Any combination you desire. Clamps used to secure weights
Clamps are rather difficult to use for a 76-year old with arthritic hands. And my hands are still rather strong since I am an active martial artist who trains regularly every week. This problem with the clamps seems like it may be a basic design problem. I have tried "greasing" the rods so the clamps would slide easier. I have also used pliers to squeeze the handles on the clamps to open the metal "rings" wider so they would slide on the rods more smoothly. I would love if the clamps were simply the type that screwed onto the rods and would also sit "flush" with the weight. Yet I am managing to use them as I anticipated. Great product, but like most free weights during COVID-19 they are hard to come by. Great product and its nice that they can adjust. Only issue i have is that if the bar was just a little longer, you can add even more of the weight plates for a heavier dumbell. Disappointed
Was great untill I went to pick one up on the 31st day and the bar fell apart. I would only recommend this if you are one of those people that plan on using something a few times then forget about it and move on to something new.
